ALLEGORICA Opera Management was founded by Paolo Monacchi in 2002.
From its creation, Allegorica has always focused on the Artists’ development. Conscious to deliver top class management, we create and tailor careers with care, taking into account the wishes and needs of our performers. Our clients are represented on a General Management basis, Worldwide or in Europe. In 2009, Delphine Chrétien and Antonio Spagnuolo joined Allegorica to develop new ideas and to give new perspectives for the future of the agency. Together with Paolo, Antonio works mainly on the Italian market whilst Delphine covers France and other countries. The company has always been engaged in managing a diversity of performers, with repertoires from Early music to Bel Canto. A new branch in a more Romantic and Veristic direction has recently been opened, and it represents an exciting goal for the present and the future development of the company. We have also launched our “special projects” department for our Artists in which recitals and orchestral tours are organised. Keen to help young talents, Allegorica created its own “Young artists program” for performers aged under 26 years old. Our target is to nurture singers at an early stage of their careers and to prepare them to the opera world.

Allegorica acquired, in a short period of time, an international recognition in the Management Industry. Proud and privileged to be in such strong situation, we continue to deliver our best each day to bring our artists to the top.

The agency has its head office in Paris and an office in Milan.

(*) Our trademark has been chosen from an italic prehistoric stone mask, we found it positive, theatrical and unbelievably contemporary.

Paolo MonacchiPaolo a Sydney

Born in Urbino (Italy) heart of the Renaissance, from a family active in music (his father has been a pop bass player and his brother is a renown eco-acoustic composer) Paolo started singing at the age of 8 when he was chosen to be part of the Pueri Cantores ensemble in Pesaro, under the unconventional and inspiring guide of prof. M. Ciaschini. He performed until the age of 24, focusing on ancient repertoire. During those last few years he took lessons with the contralto Sonia Prina and then started to manage her. Besides singing, Paolo obtained a master’s degree in Science with highest honours, summa cum laude, from University of Urbino. It is at 26 years old that he decided to dedicate himself entirely to creating a business based on his long life’s passion: the enjoyment of singing and the great music from the past. Allegorica was born.

In 2005, Paolo moved to Paris to discover new horizons and to offer new opportunities to Allegorica’s performers. Since that moment Allegorica is conceived as a dream where pursuing an ideal of beauty at the service of Music and Theatre.

These past 15 years have been successful and Paolo has had the privilege to introduce and follow numerous renown artists around the world in the most prestigious theatres and festivals such as Teatroalla Scala, The Royal Opera House, the Metropolitan Opera, Salzburg Festival, Opéra National de Paris, San Francisco Opera, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Teatro Colon de Buenos Aires, Glyndebourne Festival, Sydney Opera, Tokyo Opera City Hall amongst many others.

Paolo is regularly summoned to be part of distinguished juries of singing competitions such as the International Singing Competitions for Baroque Opera Pietro Antonio Cesti and at Il ConcorsoInternazionale di Musica Sacra in Rome.

In his spare time, Paolo enjoys studying piano, climbing, alpinism and sailing.

Before studying with well-known artists such as Brigitte Engerer, Alexander Madzar and Hortense Cartier-Bresson, I studied piano at the conservatory in Boulogne Billancourt, where I obtained a gold medal, a diploma of musical study which concluded my musical studies in June 2007. Due to a secondary course at the Cultural Management Institute in Paris, I had the opportunity to begin the administrative business in the artistic division at the Academy-Festival of Arcs under Michel Dalberto. Three years of fantastic experience, which permitted me to use all my musical knowledge for the audience, young students and famous musicians’ service. After that, my path led me to the early music repertoire and ensemble in charge of the production at the Ensemble Matheus and, later, assistant to Emmanuelle Haïm and the general manager of Le Concert d’Astrée. Since March 2009, thanks to Allegorica’s Artists, I am excited to continue to develop, collaborating with the most important European promoters, artistic directors and heads of casting. I strive to work as close as possible with singers in order to build their career according to their own goals, keeping in mind and their vocal and musical qualities without forgetting their individual personalities.
In particular, I follow the north European market.
Delphine Chretien
Artists’ manager & artistic coordination
Antonio-Spagnuolo---portrait Born in Catania, I studied violin and piano at the Conservatorio Vincenzo Bellini in Catania and also singing at the Conservatorio in Caltanissetta and with Bianca Maria Casoni in Milan. During my artistic training I performed as a soloist (modern operas, musicals and various pop projects) and as a tenor in choirs in several operas at La Scala in Milan, Teatro Bellini in Catania, Teatro Donizetti in Bergamo, Sferisterio in Macerata and during international tours in Japan and Russia. Alongside my love for music I obtained a scientific degree with “full marks” specializing in Marine Biology, taking part in a new ethological research project on behavior and reproduction of northern elephant seals. I stayed in the Pacific ocean island of San Benito (Mexico) for the entire breeding season of 2005 to record a large sample of elephant seals vocalizations, which represent the first established base of information about acoustic communication in this species and which were studied with spectrographic analysis of sound. Together with music, this experience shows my interest in sound and acoustic communication in general. I currently reside in/I now live in Milan, where I have been working for Allegorica since 2009. My primary focus is on the development of the Italian lyrical market.
In Particular, I follow the Italian market.
Antonio Spagnuolo
Artists’ manager & artistic coordinator
Former Professor of Italian Literature and History, I am interested, and actively involved, in culture and art, with particular attention focus on the musical aspects of knowledge.
My collaboration with Allegorica is broad, but mostly related to the link between the Agency and the Artists and general book-keeping.
