Il se pâme pour la Créuse d’Ana Vieira Leite, idéale de charme et de grâce, dont la ligne pure se fera aussi sensuelle dans l’amour que touchante dans une mort suspendue jusque dans l’atrocité. (Le Monde)

Biography

Ana is a laureate of the 10th edition (2021) of Le Jardin des Voix, Les Arts Florissants’ Academy for young baroque singers.

Under the baton of William Christie, she made her acclaimed debuts at the Opéra national de Paris (Garnier) and the Teatro Real Madrid as Créuse in David McVicar’s production of Charpentier’s Médée. She subsequently made her Opéra Comique debut in Robert Carsen’s production of Rameau’s Les Fêtes d’Hébé.

Other notable projects with Les Arts Florissants include Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas at the Opéra Royal de Versailles, the Teatro Real Madrid and the Liceu in Barcelona; Dalinda in Handel’s Ariodante in Paris and Versailles; Eurydice in Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice; Almirena in Rinaldo, Messiah and La Resurrezione, all at the Philharmonie de Paris. She also sang the title role in a new production of Handel’s Partenope, conducted by William Christie and Paul Agnew, on a major international tour.

Most recently, she has received widespread critical acclaim for her portrayal of Iole in a new production of Ercole amante by Antonia Bembo, conducted by Leonardo García Alarcón and staged by Netia Jones at the Opéra national de Paris (Bastille).

Internationally recognised as a leading interpreter of baroque repertoire, Ana performed Dorinda in Christopher Moulds and Mariame Clément’s new production of Orlando at the Opéra de Lausanne, Euridice in Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice at the Auditorio de Tenerife, and Poppea in Agrippina under Stéphane Fuget at the Festival de Beaune. Add to this Handel’s Messiah with Christophe Rousset and the Monteverdi Choir & English Baroque Soloists at La Scala, St Martin-in-the-Fields in London, the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome and the Église Saint-Roch in Paris.

She appeared in recital under the direction of Paul Agnew at the Cité de la Musique in Paris in a programme dedicated to opera and concert arias by Mozart.

Ana has recorded several albums with Les Argonautes (Purcell: Dido and Aeneas – Aparté), Ensemble Bonne Corde (Fiocco: Lamentationes Hebdomadae Sanctae – Ramée/Outhere) and Divino Sospiro (Avondano: Morte d’Abel – Glossa). Her first solo album “Amorosi Accenti” with Concerto 1700 dedicated to Domenico Scarlatti’s chamber cantatas has been highly acclaimed in the international press.

Ana Vieira Leite graduated from the Haute École de Musique de Genève in 2020 with a Master’s Degree in concert singing and received the “Prix de la Ville de Genève” for her outstanding work. She was awarded the First Prize in both the Concours international de chant baroque de Froville (2020) and the Concurso de Canto Lírico da Fundação Rotária Portuguesa (2021).

She has received the support of the Gulbenkian, Colette Mosetti and GDA (Gestão dos Direitos dos Artistas) Foundations.

The 2026/2027 season sees Ana performing Cavalli’s L’Ercole Amante (Iole) under Leonardo García Alarcón at the Opéra de Dijon, Handel’s Messiah with William Christie and the Orchestre de Chambre de Lausanne at the Théâtre Beaulieu in Lausanne, Bach’s Magnificat with Laurence Equilbey and Insula Orchestra at La Seine Musicale, La Halle aux grains in Toulouse and the Arsenal in Metz, and the St Matthieu Passion at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon.
