On 7 August, the Artistic Director of the Innsbruck Festival, Maestro Alessandro De Marchi, conducts the first modern performance of the opera Merope by Riccardo Broschi, Farinelli’s brother. The cast features Arianna Vendittelli as Argia, Filippo Mineccia as Anassandro and Carlo Allemano as Polifonte. That rarity is to be performed again at the Theater an der Wien on 21 October.
Director Sigrid T’Hooft, a specialist in historically informed performances, creates choreographies according to passed-down dance books.
