A multifaceted artist, Dmitry Sinkovsky seamlessly transitions from virtuosic violin performances to conducting major symphonic and operatic repertoire, while also showcasing a striking vocal talent.
An artist of international renown, he has performed at such prestigious venues as Carnegie Hall, the Barbican Centre, Vienna’s Musikverein, the Philharmonie and Konzerthaus in Berlin, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées, La Monnaie, Theater an der Wien, Musiikkitalo Helsinki, the Auditorio Nacional de Música and the Palau de la Música.
In addition to collaborating with leading period-instrument ensembles including Il Giardino Armonico, the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, and Il Pomo d’Oro, Mr. Sinkovsky has conducted prominent orchestras such as the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Budapest Radio Symphony Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, the Orquesta Nacional de España, Musica Viva, musicAeterna, the Svetlanov State Symphony Orchestra, and the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra (RNYSO). A regular guest conductor with the Seattle, Detroit, Saint Paul, and Atlanta orchestras, his upcoming engagements include his debut with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and a return to the Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra in 2027.
On the operatic stage, Mr. Sinkovsky made his debut at the Zurich Opera in 2022 with Cavalli’s Eliogabalo, followed by a 2024 debut at the Opéra Grand Avignon conducting Boris Godunov.
Since 2022, he has served as Chief Conductor of the Nizhny Novgorod Opera, where he has led new productions of The Queen of Spades, Les Contes d’Hoffmann, Così fan tutte, The Abduction from the Seraglio, Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno, Orfeo ed Euridice, Carmen, Rigoletto, La Cenerentola, and The Golden Cockerel.
His concert repertoire spans from Handel to Desyatnikov, including the symphonies and concertos of Shostakovich, Prokofiev and Mahler.
In 2011, Mr. Sinkovsky founded the period-instrument ensemble La Voce Strumentale, with whom he just presented the complete Beethoven symphonies, to be followed by the four symphonies of Brahms in the next season.
His extensive discography includes more than twenty recordings for Naïve, Pentatone, Glossa and Sony, several of which have been awarded the prestigious Diapason d’Or.
A laureate of major international competitions, including those in Bruges and Magdeburg, Mr. Sinkovsky graduated with a degree in violin from the Moscow Conservatory, in choral conducting from the Zagreb Academy, and in orchestral conducting from the Institut supérieur des arts et du design de Toulouse (isdaT).
