Born in Milan, Roberta Invernizzi was first a pianist and double bass player before studying singing under the tutelage of Margaret Heyward. She is one of the most sought after soloists in the field of baroque and classical repertoire with an international recognition.

Very much on demand as a Handel performer, Roberta sings Maddalena La Resurrezione and Saul with N. Harnoncourt in Vienna Musikverein, Medea Teseo in Karlsruhe, Oriana Amadigi at the Handel Festival in Halle and at the Opera Royale de Versailles, Cleopatra Giulio Cesare with the Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Silla in Vienna and Adriano in Siria Madrid and Valencia both under F. Biondi Nerone Agrippina at the Teatro Real in Madrid, Armida Rinaldo with O. Dantone (staged by P. Pizzi) at La Scala di Milano.

Other roles include the title role Dido and Enea in Verona Teatro Filarmonico and Torino teatro Regio, Scarlatti’s La Santissima Trinità, Vivaldi’s Ercole sul Termodonte at Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Paris, Vagaus Juditha Triumphans with Orquesta Nacional de España, title-role Statira by Cavalli at Teatro San Carlo in Napoli and Galuppi’s Olimpiade at La Fenice, and a re-invitation at La Scala to perform Orfeo by Monteverdi with Alessandrini in a R.Wilson’s production.

 With an international recognition, Roberta is a regular artist at the Salzburg Festival, performing repertoire such as the title role Sant’ Elena al Calvario with Biondi, Aci, Galatea and Polifemo with Antonini, Handel’s El Trionfo del Tempo with Haselböck, Mozart’s Mass in C minor with Dudamel; Isacco by Jommelli, and recitals of baroque music with Il Giardino Armonico at the Mozartheum.

 On the concert platform, appearances include Waisenhausmesse (Mozart) with C. Abbado at the Salzburg Festival, Mass in C minor and Davide Penitente at the Musikverein and at the Styriarte Festival in Graz with Harnoncourt. More recently Roberta performed Mozart’s Requiem with Antonini and the Orchestra Sinfonica de Madrid and returned at La Scala with La Filarmonica della Scala and Dantone for the Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater.

Chosen by the late N.Harnoncourt for the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Musikverein, Wien, the soprano performed Mozart’s version of Alexander’s Feast. She also took part of the Vienna’s Konzerthaus 20 years celebration of the Resonanzen Festival with a recital named “Roberta Invernizzi and friends”.

 Roberta Invernizzi is performing around the world and works on a regular basis with Ivor Bolton, Franz Brüggen, Antonio Florio, Ton Koopman, Gustav Leonhardt, Jordi Savall and with all major orchestras both baroque and symphonique.

 Roberta Invernizzi’s vast discography counts over 100 recordings. Many of them are world première and are available with various labels to include Sony, Deutsche Gramophone, EMI/Virgin, Naïve, Glossa, Opus 111, and Symphonia. Many CDs have been recognized by the musical press, and received prizes and awards such as Diapason D’Or de l’Année, Choc du Monde de la Musique, Goldberg’s Five Stars, Grammophone Awards and Deutsche Schallplatten Preis.

 She also won the renowned Midem Classical Awards and the prestigious Stanley Prize as “best Handel recording of the year” with her solo-cd Italian Cantatas (Glossa).

For Glossa, Roberta Invernizzi’s recordings include Queens, a Vivaldi Album, Faustina Bordoni and La Bella più Bella. All received great success from the press.
