BIOGRAPHY

From Venice, Italian Mezzo-Soprano Miriam Albano studied singing with Stella Silva at the Conservatory of her home town, and violin during 8 years. She then moved to Vienna and began to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts with her voice coach Claudia Visca. She finished a Master degree in Lied und Oratorium in Vienna at the same university with KS Robert Holl, Stephan Matthias Lademann, Charles Spencer and took part in Masterclasses with KS Brigitte Fassbaender, Helmut Deutsch, Malcom Martineau, Anne Sophie Von Otter and Ann Murray. Member of the Young Singers’ Programme in 2016 at the Salzburg Festival, Miriam appears in The Fairy-Queen for Children as Puck (main role).

Winner of the second prize of the Ferruccio Tagliavini Competition, Miriam also received awards from the Centre de Musique Baroque de Versailles and the Pietro Antonio Cesti Singing Competition for Baroque Opera in Innsbruck. Winner of the first prize and the song prize at the Ada Sari Competition in Poland, as well as winning the Mozart Prize and the European Opera Centre Award at the Francisco Viñas Competition (2016), and the 2nd Prize of the Neue Stimmen Competition.

Since the season 2016-2017, Miss Albano is a member of the Vienna State Opera ensemble where she makes her operatic debuts as Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro, Annio La clemenza di Tito. Other noticeable highlights include Amore Orfeo ed Euridice at the Teatro Malibran, Venice, Cherubino Le nozze di Figaro at the Schönbrunn Schlosstheater, Vienna, her debuts as Sidonie in Lully’s Armide for the Innsbruck Festival of Early Music. Also present on the concert platform, Miriam Albano appears in performance with Diego Fasolis in the Gloria (Vivaldi) in Lugano, Switzerland and Les Nuits d’été (Berlioz) under Leopold Hager at the Radio Kulturhaus, Vienna. She also performed a programme of arias with the ensemble Il Gene Barocco at the New Year Music Festival in Gstaad.

Passionate by the recital, Miriam perform songs programmes at the Doge’s Palace, Venice and at the Beethoven Center, Vienna. In 2016 she sang a lied recital at the Eppaner Lied Sommer with KS Brigitte Fassbaender, and performed in a Schubert lieder recital for the International Lied Festival Zeist with KS Robert Holl.

Future engagements include Rosina in Laurent Pelly new production of Barbiere di Siviglia with Marc Minkowski at the Opéra National de Bordeaux and Cherubino Nozze di Figaro in Rome Teatro dell’Opera, new production of Graham Vick.

Miriam Albano is finalist at the BBC Cardiff Competition Singer of the World 2017. She speaks fluently German as she currently lives in Austria.
